Kosovo Field

Kosovo valley is in the south of Serbia, in the central area of the Balkan Peninsula and with the Metohija valley it makes a regional unit of Kosovo and Metohija.

The Kosovo major towns are Priština, Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvečan, Gnjilane, Uroševac. Kosovo field, as the place of the Battle of Kosovo, is a small mound five kilometres from Prištine – Gazimestan. The central spot among the monuments on Gazimestan is a 25 m tall tower and inside it there are written the verses of the Kosovo Cycle epic songs. On top of the tower is a platform, offering a view of the area where the battle took place.

LANGUAGE

The name comes from the name of a bird, kos, a blackbird.
