Whole Fruit Jam

Another traditional Serbian sweet fruit preserve is a whole fruit jam. The whole chunks of fruit are stewed with sugar so as to get differentiated chunks of fruit in a thick, clear, sweet jelly. It is usually made of wild strawberries, plums, bilberries, blackberries and quince. The rose petal jam is quite famous. Serving this special sort of jam to a guest is a hospitable sign welcome – a guest is served with jam, taking a spoonful of it and a glass of water.
